MBca Destiny - I

Published by edcoraza

On June 21, 2008, a strong typhoon named “Frank” struck Camotes Island area and damaged MBCA Stingray - I. The only items that we were able to recover were the 2 engines and some lumber. The typhoon suddenly changed path and struck Camotes area at around 1AM that caught us unprepared.

In our effort to help the people of Camotes Island, we made another passenger boat “MBCA Destiny-I” and this time, we improve the design based on our experience from MBCA Stingray - 1. We also made the boat bigger making it more safe and convenient to the passengers. It has an aerodynamic cabin design with an open 2nd deck for passengers who like site seeing.

For safety reasons, we installed a bilge pump that will automatically pump out bilge water when the float switch reaches a certain height. So convenient especially for the crew since it means that there’s no need to do manual pumping during night time. Another safety gadget is the marine VHF radio that has the capability to contact the Philippine Coast Guard and us during emergencies. We also have life jackets enough for the 86 passengers (maximum capacity) and 14 crews. Fire extinguisher is also on-board.

Another improvement is the huge air scope at the front of the cabin that will suck-in fresh air for proper ventilation and good fuel burning at the engine room. The galley and CR floor has ceramic tiles for easy cleaning. The comform room has mirror and enough water for flushing. Lightings is complete in the deck, engine room and it includes navigation lights. The very heavy stair has a roller for easy deployment and retrieval. Cooling system for first engine (Mitsubishi 6D14) is through a huge drum that serves as a radiator. The cooling system for the second engine (Mitsubishi 6D7) is seawater.
